for maintenance, e.g. patching the O/S, how do I ensure the compute nodes are backed up prior to the activity?

for the nodes in an Exadata DB System, how would I go about backing up the O/S prior to a maintenance task such as patching the O/S?

for on-prem Exadata compute nodes, I would use dbnodeupdate.sh
