Mid Period Global Transfers - are these supported?

if we need to perform a mid period global transfer we have noticed there are issues with 'prior payments', e.g.
 
- ‘Prior Payments’ issues on the FPS (Full Payment Submission – Colleague data which is transmitted to HMRC). 
This is where the FPS on the new payroll (e.g. Retail) identifies the FPS has not been ran prior to the new period. Usually the case when they are mid-period transfers.
 
what is the expected process here?  are mid period transfers supported?
