Different due dates for same profile

We have a requirement where the preparer/reviewer duration at Profiles, need to be dynamically changed to wither 20/30 depending upon whether it is aq quarter close or not. For example, below is the requirement:

Jan, Feb, Apr, May, Jul, Aug, Oct, Nov – All reconciliations need to be reviewed and approved by the last day of the month (30^th or 31^st )

Mar, Jun, Sept, Dec – all reconciliations need to be reviewed and approved by the 20^th day of the month.

Option 1: We thought of manipulating the Close Date for periods,  and give a Close date with a 10-day delay during non-quarter (and Close date as first day of the month for quarters) and then duration as 20 days, so that the above effect may be achieved but one disadvantage is that the recons will be in Pending status until the 10 days elapse, so it does not serve the purpose of users getting more time during non-quarters
