Best practice to populate Select one choice from BO

Hi,

I have a drop-down on the page that has binding from one of the Business Objects in my VBCS application. Every time I click on that drop down it makes a GET call to BO and takes time to load. And even, when I search anything in the drop-down it again makes a GET call to BO for every single alphabet I type in the drop-down. That behavior making drop-down a little slow due to multiple calls to BO.

What's the best practice to populate drop-down from BO.
