HireRight I-9 passport integration, Validity period

Hoping some seasoned users of HireRight/Taleo (TEE) passport integration can share their thoughts on "validity period" setting.
We recently went live with HireRight I-9 and inserted the I-9 into our Taleo onboarding/transitions. Since go live, we have had a couple candidates come back with odd error. ERROR: The following error occurred while requesting the service "I-9 Employment Eligibility" to provider HireRight : "The previous service request is still active (3808135)".
Oracle has stated this is due to the "validity period" of the passport being set to "always active", so curious what others have this set to?
