At what point does Candidate Data get stored in HCM

The process starts when candidate enters their email address to apply.Does at this point the email information gets stored in HCM. What happens if candidate enters their email and other contact information and address etc and then logs out.Does the information they entered so far gets stored in HCM somewhere or is it only when they submit the application that this data gets stored in HCM.

I entered the email and other contact information and then closed the browser and then again applied for the Job.It asked me to confirm my identity and then all the information that i had entered earlier was pre-filled.But the question is does the information get stored in HCM prior to submitting the application or not.
