Summary

Employee submitting a mileage expense in current year for previous tax year - mile rate determinant

Content

Hi all,

We have a query regarding employee's submitting expense claims for previous tax years (where the higher rate is capped a 10,000 miles per annum as per HMRC policy, and anything over that is reimbursed at a lower rate). Up to 10k miles is 45p per mile, anything over is 25p per mile.

In the following scenario:

Employee has done 10,000 miles in the last tax year and the rate threshold  is 10,000 after which the rates drops from 45 to 25 pence per mile and the reset date on the threshold is 6
