Refresh - Excessive triggers?

In the Validate Plan Setup in worforce compensation configuration, we get this message : "Verify that all dynamic calculations and alerts are enabled only if necessary". The details then go on to say "An excessive number of triggering events may negatively impact worksheet and batch process performance."  

What is considered "excessive"? We have 159 "conditions defined with the refresh process triggering evet enabled".  

 

To complicate matters we have to run a refresh every 6 hours due to the way we configured the performance module in order to get guidelines and bonus calculations to update.  Last year we ran into some major issues with the refresh mid cycle.  I'd like to avoid that this year.  We've already made some changes but I'd like to know if the amount of conditions we have are too many.
