Why is there report objects under custom folder after install of OTBI that we did not create

Content

After our new POD was brought up I went into OTBI  and I'm finding several folders some that are empty but others are not.

For instance I'm seeing a lot of content stored in the /shared/custom/financials/Dashboards folder. What is this content and will I break anything by removing it?
