Filter hire start date with only previous month

Ok, I'm trying to run a report that involves only showing those that had a hire start date of the previous month.

For the column I'm using MONTHNAME("Submission.Dates"."Hire Start Date") so that the column only shows the month.

Then I'm filtering that using the TIMESTAMPADD command like this because I only want the previous month:

MONTHNAME("Submission Dates"."Hire Start Date") = TIMESTAMPADD(SQL_TSI_MONTH, -1, CURRENT_TIMESTAMP)

I know there are results because without the filter I see Nov in the column I created. But when I add the filter, it throws an error:
