Add UDFs Related to Department to Career Section Advance Search

Needing Assistance Allowing Applicants to Advance Search Career Section by Department

We have received a user request to allow candidates to search for openings by department. We import our department list into Recruiting Administration General Configuration, however, I have been unable to locate documentation on making this field available in Advanced Search on the Career Sections. In Career Section Administration under Advance Search Properties for "Display the following user defined fields related to the department" it indicates "Not Specified". Does anyone have any experience with making department related fields searchable?
