Need help organizing assigned to list on collections activity screen

Currently the assigned to list on the collections activity screen is in no order, making it hard to use with 100 collectors.

Does anybody know the backend of how the assigned to list on the collections activity page is put together?  Currently the list just seems to randomly list all the collectors, making it very hard to find the one we are looking for.  We have asked support to provide, what criteria or why the list is in the order that it is, so we can perhaps manipulate the data on our end to make it more functional.  In addition are there any other ways to customize the order of the list would be very helpful?
