Problems with rehires and additional assignments

We are facing issues around rehires and people being hired onto additional assignments. This is due to us not using the standard rehire and additional assignment functionality within Oracle - the reason being is that both impact our downstream interfaces (particularly Kronos and certain Payroll processes)

Therefore for rehires we create the employee a brand new record - not linked to their old terminated record. And for additional assignments, we again create a brand new record so the employee would then have two employee numbers. This is not ideal as it doesn't follow Oracle standard process, but it is not something we can move away from.
