Have added new 2 more columns using Manage source UI But we are using the old data template to uplo

Is it mandatory to download the new data template after we add new columns using Manager source UI for the existing Application?

We have created  a subledger application for AHCS one month ago, Now we have added to more columns for line level using Manage Source with specific name.  But we have not downloaded the new  data template after this changes. Still we are using the data template which was used before adding the columns and no error found. Is this standard behaviour or is it missing something.

As per my understanding  it is advised to use new template once we create addtional columns for the existing application. But system is not erroring or warning when we use old data template which do not have the column name defined newly. Any pointers on this?
