Payment File Transmission via REST API with OAuth

Has anyone been able to configure transmitting payment files via a REST API that uses OAuth. The HTTPS transmission options in Manage Transmission Configurations only seems to support basic authentication. The payment system we are using does not use SFTP so we are currently downloading and submitting the payment files manually. We would like to be able to automate transmission to reduce the risk of the payment file being tampered with.
