How can we update the effective start date for an already loaded Payroll Assignment. We need it to update Timecard required flag

How can we update the effective start date for an already loaded Payroll Assignment. We need it to update Timecard required flag.

currently it's failing with error message "The operation PURGE FUTURE CHANGES isn't supported.   " as we try to update.

Anyone came across something similar and has a workaround?
