Candidates still able to schedule onto an interview while on a withdrawn status

We have found through testing that candidates can still select an interview slot from the interview invite email link even if they have been moved to an end status such as withdrawn or rejected. How do we prevent this? We would have imagined that an inactive candidate would be prevented from selecting a slot
