Can you set up a Payment Shared Service without having the BU's sharing the same Ledger?

In the Manage Service Provider Relationships, by searching on BindBuID vs the BU Name in the Payables Payment Service Provider, I was able to select another BU (which has another ledger). What are the consequences of this setup?

According all the videos, documentation and live sessions I've seen, I understand the answer is no. However, in the Manage Service Provider Relationships, by searching on BindBuID vs the BU Name in the Payables Payment Service Provider, I was able to select another BU (which has another ledger). The PO creation, Invoice creation and Payments from another BU were able to be done without any issue. So my test seems to indicate that the answer is yes. Is this intended Oracle use?
