is it possible to enable few columns after transfer to HR process is executed.

Summary:

we have a requirement to suppress letters for employees on LOA. Thus we have added a custom column to determine those users and exclude if the custom column has value. However, the columns become non-editable once we schedule "Transfer to HR" process. is there any way to enable the custom column alone even after the HR transfer process.
