Change the calculation of SR Milestone from Creation Date to Date Reported

The client sometimes receives late notice of an issue and raises a Service Request and sets the Date Reported to reflect the actual date of the issue.

The question is how do I get the SR Milestone to be calculated based on the Date Reported (which is in the past) rather than on the Creation Date of the Service Request?
