Member formulas summarizing Parent

Summary:

Our allocation source count is way too high. For some Segment we are using an "all value parent" but instead of taking the sum of the parent, it is multiplied by all the children.

Is creating a Value with a member formula, adding up all the children would work. If so, what would be the syntax.

Is there any other workaround to avoid destroying the source count ?
