Provide competency rating ability for leaders

We are looking to provide a way for our leaders to provide proficiency ratings for competencies via the Talent Profile.

We are looking to provide a way for our leaders to provide proficiency ratings for competencies via the Talent Profile. In my research, it looks like the only way to do this is via a Performance Document and this would be less desirable. Has anyone done anything similar?

We are currently only using Person profile. I have seen conflicting posts as to whether or not competencies on the person profile can be rated via a Performance Document. Any input here would also be welcomed.
