Does editing a journal category has any impact??

The requirement is, since there are many categories and only 9 categories are used, is it advisable to edit the journal category like 01Accrual 02reversing etc so that those 9 categories can be viewed first?? Does it has any impact? Is there any other option to view only the category we are using to list out first?
