How to override the configured Item Number and Description instead into customer values?

For CTO Configured Item Created, how can we make the item to use to Customer Values as the intended Item Number and Description. It would make more sense to the customer rather than having the CTO Model Item Description and Star(*) + Number Sequence as Item Number.
