Job requisition for occupied Position

Summary:

We have a scenario , where the client is looking to implement positions on a one to one basis. Ie One person - One position.

But in this scenario , if a person is going to leave or let go , the HM needs to get the recruiting process complete , include offer and move to HR for this persons replacement. In this case would the position overlap field allow multiple reqs to move through the entire recruiting process ?
