Impact of "Required" as a Content Section Property in the Model Profile

Summary:

What impact does the Required content section property have on the system? For example, does it have a bearing on how best-fit analysis is calculated?

Content (required):

When viewing the content section properties of different templates such as Degrees, Competencies, etc. in the job/position profile type, there is a property called Required. When this property is shown, it appears a checkbox on the model profile. See screenshots below.

How should this particular property be used exactly? If ticked, would it mean that that degree/competency is a non-negotiable requirement for that particular profile? If it is not ticked, then it is just nice to have?

Howdy, Stranger!
