Asset End Date functionality

How does the Asset End date can change the IB record of an Asset

As per the documentation the Asset End date set when the asset is not active any more. Setting up this date will prevent any further transactions on that Serial Number ? We want to update this date when the asset is lost at customer site and there should not be any transactions on this S/N.

as per my testing I still can perform issues and receipts from Inventory which is again updated into IB record as Asset History. Can we achieve to set the Serial Number status based on the Asset End date ?
