Payroll Balance

Hi all,

My question is why oracle recommends us to use balance package and not to use balance table to fetch balance data.

I was wondering that we have balance tables present in fusion but why do we use balance package. Even In some cases it leads to performance issue but then also oracle recommends us to use balance package.

Can anyone provide the insight on this?
