Non Entitled absences allowing absence to apply above max allowed hrs

Requirement - Create a non-accrual Absence type which an employee can avail min 4 hrs and max 480 hrs in a year.
Created an Absence with these setup :- Pattern - Generic absence, UOM - Hours, Minimum Duration Alert- Error, Minimum Duration - 4, Maximum Duration Alert - Error, Maximum Duration - 480, Evaluation Extension Period - 90, Calendar days Evaluation Period at Absence Entry - 365 Calendar days
Now, When I enter a single absence request as 2nd Feb-5th Jun, it gives the error correctly that it exceeds the total hrs of 480 hrs.
But, When i enter multiple absence requests that total exceeds the 480 hrs, it allows to submit w/o any error.
