Goal

How to send email to a remote mail server, using SSL STARTTLS to encrypt the connection, from the command line using mailx?

Solution

The solution proposed in this document will use a remote mail server protected by SSL using mailx.

Since by default Oracle Linux mail system does not include public certificate authorities (CA), this procedure will include the process to obtain the certificates from the mail server.

1. Obtaining the certificates

  • Create new certificate and key databases.
