Can Gigs be paid in the system

Summary:

I am new to Recruitment world and came across 'Gigs.' So wanted to understand more about it. Here is my basic question:

As per all the documentations and presentations provided, Gigs itseems does not update the assignment details nor the talent profile. So, in that case how can we pay for Gigs ? Is it an actual job Or is it just a temporary assignment which doesnt pay but fulfills passion or learning?
