OCI: Unable to Access the Internet From Cloned Ubuntu 20.04 Instance

in Linux 1 comment

Applies to:

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later

Linux x86-64

Symptoms

A new instance was created from a cloned boot volume of another running Ubuntu 20.04 instance.

After starting the new instance using the cloned boot volume, networking is up, but the route command does not show any configured network gateway:

$ route
Destination     Gateway
<instance subnet>
0.0.0.0

Cause

The network settings for OCI instances are obtained by default from the OCI backend infrastructure.

It is likely that the existing configurations from the cloned boot volume may have interfered with the Network Manager setup during the instance’s first boot.

Howdy, Stranger!
