We have a requirement for employees to earn vacation in the current year and then be able to take it in the following reference year.

In the attached white paper, it says this is possible:

Employers may require the employee to earn the time in one reference year and take it in the following reference year or alternatively

Reviewing the document, the employee can put a Vacation Accrual Reduction Date when they enter their absence and reference the prior year. However, this would require the employee to do it.
