Ability to have skills as dropdown and not open text in job requisition

We had requirement to have competencies specified for the job role, since currently job requisition form only allows having skills section so we used the same by renaming it and have populated a fixed set of competencies in the requisition form using position profile configuration. However since skills is a text type field, system allows users to edit those competencies, is there a way to make this text type field as dropdown ?
