Oracle Linux System Becomes Unavailable 24 Hours After Startup

edited Feb 27, 2023 2:20PM in Linux

Applies to:

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later

Linux x86-64

Symptoms

24 hours after the system is started, it becomes unavailable.

It is not possible to connect using ssh and it also does not respond to ping.

Cause

The system is obtaining its IP address from DHCP, during the initial startup. In OCI, if the IP is not renewed within 24 hours, the system will release the IP address.

A network service is responsible for renewing the IP address. In Oracle Linux, network.service or NetworkManager.service can be used. None was enabled in this case.

Solution

Check if network.service or NetworkManager.service is enabled and working without errors.

Howdy, Stranger!
