Why do some fields break a report in OTBI?

Summary: trying to create a census report with fields from multiple subject areas and many fields work together but certain fields break the report

Content (required): I'm using the subject areas: workforce management - person real time, compensation - salary details real time, and workforce management - real time. I have working fields from all three subject areas but when I add certain fields, for example, salary change date, the report breaks until I remove that field.
