Journey does not start when manager searches for employee

Hello,
we are currently facing the issue that If a manager searches for their employee in the search bar within the quick action change working hours, then the associated contextual journey does not start. It only starts, when you click on the name of the direct report in that are listed in the change working hours quick action.

Question: is this a bug or expected behavior? If it is a not bug, why isnt’t this possible. Some managers have dozens of direct reports, the search bar is a much-needed functionality in this case. What can be done to work around this?
