Voluntary Deduction - Using Same Deduction Reference Every Year

Summary:

Every Pay period (Monthly), we deduct a Council tax until total annual amount is recovered.

For example, total owe for 2023-24 is £1000, it is recovered in 10 pay periods i.e., starting Apr'23 till Jan'24. Please note, we used a deduction reference number#12345 which is a council Tax Reference number which remains unique/common across all years for a given employee. The element automatically stopped in Jan'24 after £1000 is recovered i.e., element ended as on 31-Jan-2024

In the next tax year 2024-25, we used the same element for Council tax recovery starting from 01-Apr-2025 with total owe as £850 (for example) and the same deduction reference#12345, in this scenario when we run the Apr'25 pay run, the system is refunding £150. i.e., -£150
