TUPE transfer during maternity leave -statutory maternity pay (UK)

How to ensure employee receives correct statutory maternity pay followingTUPE transfer.
Content (required):
Employee is being transferred under TUPE, and therefore has a hire date in the system the same date as the TUPE transfer date. The employee is currently receiving statutory maternity pay and should continue to do so. However, we cannot enter the original maternity absence date is this is prior to the hire date.
Have any other UK payroll customers found a way to handle this in the application please?
