We need to have multiple Quota versions maintained for the same fiscal year and need to keep track of all versions for reporting

In our industry we have a practice to revise the initially assigned quotas based on the current market conditions. The management want reporting for each of the version of quota with actual results.

As in sales cloud only one quota plan for a year can be tracked. I want to know that will it be fine to define multiple quota plans for a year and only mark the inittial quota plan as tracked, if there is a requirement to revise the quota for the year  then mark the second version of quota plan as tracked, assign all quota values and then set back the tracked flag to initial plan.
