OL8 Instance Becomes Inaccessible Every Day Until Restarted Again

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later

Symptoms:

OL8 OCI instance starts normally, then the following day it becomes inaccessible and a manual restart is needed to access it again.

Cause:

The Network Manager service (NetworkManager) was disabled. In Oracle Linux 8 OCI instances, the renewal of the DHCP provided IP address lease is required to maintain network connectivity, otherwise the instance will lose network connectivity approximately 24h after the last IP assignment/renewal. The initial assignment of the IP address by DHCP during the boot process is performed by dhclient(8), but subsequent periodic renewals are performed by NetworkManager by default.
