Bounced emails in Campaigns

Hello Experts,
We are facing an issue, we never see the count go up in the Campaign Metrics for bounced email even when the email address is no longer existent or if the e-mail is invalid. Do you have any idea why is this happening?
I read in the Oracle guide the definition of bounced emails but that does not correspond to what we are seeing during testing.
Would really appreciate some advice!
