how to view all successors by the manager

Hello,

we would like to know if is it possible to create the following custome role: a manager that can view into a succession plan all the successors even if they are not his direct report.

The issue that i have at the moment is that the standard role of line manager do not access to the succession plan, so i create a custome role where i put all the duty and privilege of succession plan. so now my scenario and question are two:

1) if i associate this custome role + the standard role of manager the user can view the succession plan and the successor (only his direct report). But if i use only the custome role i can see the plan but no one inside it and i cannot add them. do you know wich are the security policy in order to use only the custome role?
