Tax reference number validation - South Africa

Has anyone implemented SA Revenue services [Tax reference number] field validation for a South African implementation?

Content (required):

There is an algorithm that governs the construct of a [Tax reference number]. Our legacy application applies this algorithm and gives a warning when this field has failed the validation, but Oracle HCM does not seem to cater for this validation natively.

Has anyone implemented SA Revenue services [Tax reference number] validation of some sort for South Africa?
