How can we perform Create Income Statement Closing Journals without a Period 0/Period 14

When you run the Create Income Statement Closing Journals, the journal is surfaced but when we run a TB for that year, the Income and Expense accounts are obviously 0'd which doesn't show the correct year to date balance.

Oracle recommends to post this journal into the adjustment period of the new year but we haven't configured this and we are 5 years into the system. Do you know if there is anyway to surface the journal but to not affect the TB and potentially other reports?
