Termination of Benefits - Multiple Assignments

Summary:

Our client has employees who have a FT assignment and a contingent assignment. FT assignment is benefit eligible.

The employee wants to terminate FT employment and only be employed as a contingent worker. Because we cannot terminate a primary assignment, we have to make the contingent worker assignment primary, then terminate the FT employee assignment. When we terminate the FT assignment, the termination life event is not triggering. I believe it is because the FT assignment is now secondary at the point of termination. How can we ensure the termination life event triggers?
