What would be impact of deleting partially reconciled bank statements

Summary: What would be impact of deleting partially reconciled bank statements with External Transaction created but not accounted. We need to clean up the Cash Management module and start afresh from new year. We have already Bank Statement imported and partially reconciled. We also have some External Transaction Created but not accounted and finance team does not want those accounting entries to hit GL. Because of unaccounted External Transactions we are not able to close period.
