What does the white line that divides an activity in Manage and Dispatch Console mean?

I would like to know what it means when an activity has a white line that divides it. The activity types that I have configured do not have the "Enable segmenting and extended duration" feature enabled, so I don't understand why a non-segmented activity can have this feature.
