The OS on my VMs is behaving in a way that's making it difficult for me to deploy anything and set up logging.

I have a process that I run on a VM, and this thing is killing it every few minutes:


I also need logging turned on for another process, but whenever I modify /etc/rsyslog.conf, something (possible the access-updater above) keeps overwriting the file back to its beginning state.

Where can I find documentation that explains what's doing these things and how to disable them?

Or maybe some documentation telling me the "correct" way to set up processes and logging so that they aren't interfered with by the OS?
