Monitoring Program Canvas

Hello,

I was wondering if there is any way to monitor program canvases (Contact/CDO). I want to monitor if any record is stuck in the program for a long time say 24 hours.

I see if we access all the program info through API, we get number of records in each step but is there a better way of implementing this.
